News 2014

OUR 2014 HOLIDAY GIFT PROGRAM
WAS A RECORD SUCCESS!

Thanks to your donations and to the hardworking volunteers in Massachusetts, Washington D.C., and California, our 13th Share Literacy Holiday Book Donation Program was a record success – we donated 17,754 Hoopoe books, 2662 of which were Home Literacy Kits. Each kit contained a Hoopoe story by Idries Shah, an audio version of the story, and a Read Together Newsletter giving tips and advice to parents on reading regularly with their children.

We hope to be able to run a similar holiday program at the end of this year as well. With your help we can, but we need to raise another $10,000 to reprint the two titles needed to keep this program going.

2014 Holiday Gift Packing Events

Amazing what a group of neighborhood kids can do when they get together! Over two weekends in November, these kids assembled 2662 Home Literacy Kits – each kit containing a book, an audio CD and a 'Read Together' newsletter for parents and caregivers. These kits will be donated to economically disadvantaged kids as a holiday gift.

Hoopoe Books included in Camp Fire
After-School Programs

For several years now, Camp Fire Greater Long Beach has used Hoopoe Books at their WRAP after-school programs. This summer young students had a fun learning experience with two Hoopoe titles by Idries Shah: The Man with Bad Manners and Neem the Half-Boy.
